The red is not the flower.

Those red blades are modified leaves called bracts. The real flowers are the narrow greenish-yellow tubes barely showing between them. Underground, the roots break into the roots of nearby grasses and take the water and nutrients those plants made. It is not growing alongside them. It is growing off them.

- Dust gently with a dry cloth. For a mark that will not lift, a barely damp cloth, then dry.
