I Heart U Aspen — Canvas Print

A heart cut into aspen, the scar blackened and swollen with age.

Aspen bark photosynthesizes — there is chlorophyll under the white bloom, easily seen if you scratch it — and it never grows back once cut. The wound scars over, darkens, and stretches as the trunk expands. On aspen these carvings can stay legible for up to a hundred and fifty years.

Care instructions

- Dust gently with a dry cloth. For a mark that will not lift, a barely damp cloth, then dry.
